In rec.pets some time ago there was a discussion about a disease that pregnant women could get from the feces of their house cats. Well, I just heard at an HIV/AIDS presentation tonight that this same problem exists for PWAs. Specifically, PWAs should avoid eating raw vegetables (especially those grown at home) because the virus from the cat feces that may be deposited on the garden soil can coat the surface of the root vegetables, posing a health hazard for people with AIDS who then eat the vegetables raw. Has anyone else heard about this? Can they confirm or deny?
