[sci.med.aids] Hypericin

After reading the Aids Treatment News I was wondering about
the drug Hypericin. Does anyone know what what species of
St. John's wort is used to isolate the drug? St. John's wort
is the common name for lots of species in the genus //Hypericum//.
I was thinking that there probably is some variability within
the different species of that genus in the ability to produce the
"raw compound" from which the drug is extracted. Also I'm curious
which part(s) of the plant are used in the process?

Anyway - just wondering. I remember collecting the plant in
a couple of different places and its nice to think that it
could possibly do some good for AIDS patients.

Thanks -

Michael
