SHAIR@UIUCVMD.BITNET (Bob Shair) (09/06/88)

AS/400 Communications Utilities, 5728-CM1, will allow an AS/400 to
exchange files and mail with VM, RSCS and PROFS systems. It is
scheduled to be available November 25, 1988. For details see IBM
announcement letter 288-292 on IBMLink or from your IBM representative.

                    VM/RSCS/PROFS BRIDGE
The VM/RSCS/PROFS Bridge, a function of IBM AS/400 Communications
Utilities, provides support to allow the movement of mail and files to
and from VM PROFS and RSCS, using BSC protocol. This support could also
include non-adjacent PROFS and RSCS nodes connected to the VM RSCS system.

I have a copy of an announcement stating that Mitek announced TCP/IP networking
software for IBM's new AS/400. The article states that the software products
will be available in November when IBM is scheduled to release a version of the
AS/400 system software that includes connectivity facilities. I guess this
means you could also hook an AS/400 to the internet. Let me know if anyone
wants more info and I may get courage and type in the entire article as it is
only about 10 paragraphs long.
