We are looking for remote 3174 emulation hardware/software for the PC that faithfully emulates the token ring connectivity of a real remote 3174. In other words, we are looking for a product (or a combination of products) that will turn a PC into a remote 3174 with the token ring attachment. We don't want to shell out the $$ for a real 3174, but we require the emulation to be exact. Any suggestions? Please email responses. Thanks in advance. -- Ned Robie uunet!h-three!ned

In order to do it the way I think you are asking, you need at least one real 3174 with the Gateway option to pull the data off the token ring and dump it into the host. They tell me that a PC running the "Emulation Program 3" can then pretend it's a 3270. The other solution is to put up TCP/IP on the PC and run tn3270 over the token ring and either put the IBM host on the TCP net or use a product such as the Mitek to gateway. -Ron
