The way we connect asynchronous terminals to our IBM systems is via protocol converters called SNA_Gates sold in Australia by the Netlink company. These boxes appear to the 3725 as cluster controllers and can be configured to support any sort of asynchronous terminal or printer. A wide range of features are supported including: * LU1, LU2 and LU3 sessions * RJE Station emulation * Local screen printing * IBM PC Host file transfer * Multiple LU's per device * Data transparency (ala 7171) In many ways they are functionally the same as the IBM 3708. For example, the Arbiter PC-IBM Host integration product (from Tangram) supports SNA_Gate connected PCs by assuming it is a 3708. I don't know who sells them in the US, but they are available (I can probably find out if someone is interested). Cost is about A$7500 depending on configuration (8 - 16 asynch ports).
