[comp.protocols.ibm] a UNIXmachine as a Bitnet node

paola@i2unix.UUCP (Paola Formai) (12/01/88)

I have a Vax-11/750 4.3 BSD with UREP package (written by Pennsylvania
U.).
Urep + Dec Dup-11 syncronous board + dedicated line to a IBM 43xx
makes thVax a Earn/Bitnet node. IBM 43xx sees my Vax as a RSCS on a
Bsc protocol.
Now, I am going to change the Vax with a new Unix machine, maybe HP 9000/825S
or so.

HP has no board for HP9000 but only SNA board; has anyone adapted Urep for
the SNA environment?

Has anyone adapted Urep for a non-Vax Unix machine?

Please help me, I would like to throw away my Vax!!

The author(s) have it running on Sun, Data General, IBM RT, and
maybe other platforms that they haven't told me about.
