[comp.protocols.ibm] Channel-attached 3274 lookalikes

P85025@BARILVM.BITNET (Doron Shikmoni) (01/11/89)

I'm looking for some inexpensive hardware that will connect to
a 370 channel bus and will present itself as a 3274 clone.
Preferrably, this hardware should serve a few terminals; but
even one terminal support will help me a lot. Such a box can
be self-contained, or a card for a PC, or whatever. The idea
is to have some terminals attached to a "bare" machine, for
the minimum that's required - namely, a console.

If you have some rough price quotations - this will help a lot too.

(The reason for all this - I want to partition a 3090 into LPARs,
and run a test opsys on one of the partitions; however, I'll need
some CU to serve the MVS console there, since PR/SM partitions
contain whole CHPIDs - I can't dedicate one or two consoles to
a certain partition).

Thanks; please reply to me personnaly, to save network bandwidth.
