Are there any 3com experts out there? We desperately need help. We are trying to run a small ethernet network (for now 1 server 2 clients) using a 3com 3c505 on an Zenith-248 AT and 3com 3c501 boards on clients. We are using 3com software (e.g., 3share). Recently the hard drive on our server died. Now we are unable to get the 3-com sofware running again. When we restore from backup, we get the message "software not registered properly". When we try to install from the original disks, we find we have to deinstall first, and get the message "This diskette was not installed using the etherlink card present in this pc. Error[123]" This is very mysterious to me, since we are using the exact same 3com boards and diskettes as originally. It seems that the software wants to see the old disk drive (which has completely died). Does anyone out there have any idea what the problem is? Does anyone from 3com read this group? Please, please, send any suggestions to me by email. If this is an inappropriate place to post this inquiry, let me know and accept my apologies in advance. --Walter _____________________________________________________________________________ Walter C3arlip c3ar@zaphod.uchicago.edu (the "3" is silent) c3ar%zaphod@UCHIMVS1.bitnet _____________________________________________________________________________
