[comp.protocols.ibm] 0-Wait and Token-Ring Problems?

ERIC@ETSU.BITNET (Eric Job) (03/17/89)

Hello,

I hope you all can clarify two things for me.

(1) What is meant by a zero wait on Microcomputers? Specifically,
what is the big deal about the IBM PS/2 Model 50Z having this
zero wait state? Does this improve performance by very much?

(2) An unnamed computer vendor here in town has told another department
that they shouldn't get IBM PS/2 Model 50Zs for a lab because they
will have networking problems should they implement Novell NetWare.
Is this founded? Does anybody use Model 50Zs, with token-ring
hardware, under Novell? It sounds strange to me... my concern is
that this vendor is pushing his clones a bit too hard.
We can get a particularly great deal on the Model 50Zs...

Thanks for your help.
