[comp.protocols.ibm] 3270 Emulation Packages

thomas@mvac.UUCP (Thomas Lapp) (04/05/89)

[I tried to mail this directly and couldn't get to the author. Sorry to
bother the entire newsgroup]

IBM has a package called IBM 3270 Emulation Package (original, eh?) which
does 3270 emulation using either stand-alone, workstation, SLDC/SNA or
even IBM token ring. This package is about $350 and the latest release
is version 3.05. It also allows file transfers to the host, provided the
host has the IND$FILE routine (available under TSO, VM/CMS, etc.)

Another package out is called IMPCS (sorry, I don't recall what it stands for)
and provides up to four sessions if your 3x74 controller supports MLT (Multi-
ple Logical Terminals). It also allows file transfers. This package takes
up less memory than 3270 Emulation Package (3270 EP avg. size is 200K).
Again, sorry, but I don't know the manufacturer of this one. It may also be
IBM.

Hope that helps.

PS: add a .signature to your mail. hwa@ece-csc.UUCP is not always so easy to
get to if you don't have full UUCP maps. Use like me with either Inter-
net addressing, or full path from a known uucp machine (like uunet, or
    others like that).
