I'm submitting this for a friend who wants to buy a micro for the usual business applications - payroll, bookkeeping, word processing, database, etc. - in a small business environment. He's currently attracted to the IBM AT because the name is IBM and because of the amount of available software. He's gotten his hands on the following list of AT clones, and expects me to advise him on the relative advantages/disadvantages of each. I'd really appreciate it if anyone out there with an opinion on any of these machines would share that opinion with me BY EMAIL. If you're interested in learning what I learn, let me know BY EMAIL. If enough people are interested, I'll post a summary to the net. Thanks in advance. --- AT clone --- Price Speed Operating System(s) AT&T PC 6300 + $6,320 6 MHz MS-DOS + Unix System V Cordata ATD-8 $5,495 8 MHz MS-DOS Cordata ATP-8 $5,595 8 MHz MS-DOS Epson Equity III $4,780 6 MHz MS-DOS HP Vectra PC $5,600 8 MHz MS-DOS Honeywell PC AP $5,670 8 MHz MS-DOS Sperry PC IT $6,065 8 MHz MS-DOS + Xenix Tandy 3000 $3,800 8 MHz MS-DOS + Xenix Wang APC $5,900 8 MHz MS-DOS + Xenix Thom Brando linus!brando@MITRE-BEDFORD.{ARPA,BITNET,CSNET} {allegra,decvax,ihnp4,philabs,...}!linus!brando.UUCP
