We are investigating the usage of X.400 Mail Protocols and the X.500 Directory protocols. I need to locate some manuals, books, or articles on these protocols that would help to understand what is provided by the protocols and how they can be used. I would prefer something that has both high level concepts along with the specific technical details. Can anyone out there help with names and sources for such manuals, books, and articles? Butch

I wrote a paper on ISO 10021/X.400(88) which might be of some interest
to you. You'll find it in Computer Networks and ISDN Systems, vol 16,
pages 153-160. There are several other papers in that edition which
may also be of interest on other OSI topics.
Another source of overview material is the report on the COSINE
Specification Phase, which is available from COSINE Secretariat,
c/o CEC DG XIII A2, rue de la Loi 200, B-1049 Brussels, Belgium.
