JMR@MTUS5.BITNET ("John M. Russell") (08/29/89)
OK... I hope this is the right place to post this question. It's about
networking, and IBM, so I'll hope for the best :) (incidentally, if
anyone has a better suggestion, PLEASE advise)
I'm looking for any information anyone might have about FDDI - fiber
distributed data interface. I'm investigating it's use in a token ring
network, and ideally would like to find controller cards using this
technology (microchannel, mind you). I believe it's relatively new (like
early 1989?).
The only information I'm going on now was a directive from my boss ("I heard
of this new thing. Check it out and report to me yesterday.") and a tidbit
I found in an old PC-Week Connectivity - an article entitled "Fiber Optic
Ethernet Holds Promise for the Future" (p C/15 February 6, 1989).
If anyone has any information on vendors involved in this, or ANYTHING to
tell me, please respond. Thanks in advance! - JR
