To anyone who can remember BSC 2780/3780, I am currently, working on a project that involves the transfer of power system realtime information (files and core memory) from a Xerox 550 (Sigma 9) to a Sun 3/280. I have implemented a batch file transfer program using the IBM 2780 protocol but would like to have multi-session communication between processes on each host. I would like to modify 2780 or write an application to provide multi- session communications as part of a thesis project. I am restricted to using the IBM 2780 protocol because the Xerox 550 hardware and operating system is early 1970 technology. However, I wrote the drivers on the Xerox and have the lib source code to the low level driver interface on the Sun. Is there anyone out there that has had any experience with the 2780 protocol other than RJE or has used 2780 to provide multi-session communications. Dan Beddow E-mail dbeddow@.ub.d.umn.edu
