[comp.protocols.ibm] Questions about 3174 ASCII ports.

S5128PQ@NUCYB.BITNET (10/18/89)

We have a 3174-11R controller with 24 ASCII and 32 SNA ports connected
to an SNA network. We ran online wrap tests on the ASCII ports and the
test passed. We then did a status summary of the ports. It showed that
the ports were powered off. We then did a transmit wrap test (which
passed) and another status summary. This time the port tested abore showed
powered on. We then IMLed the controller, did another status summary, and
all ports showed powered off.

What the heck do we need to do to get them powered on???
Do you need to have an active ASCII terminal in session for the port to show
powered on? We have connected an ASCII VT100 terminal and get no result.
IBM has not been able to help us so far.

Also, what if any are the special NCP definitions required for this
controller?

     Thanks for any help.
