[comp.protocols.ibm] problem with DISOSS FFT mail from IBM S36's to VAX VMS DDXF

WILLIAMSV@VCUVAX.BITNET ("Vernon Williams, (03/23/90)

Dear List readers:

At Virginia Commonwealth University, we have had a problem develop within
our DISOSS mail network. FFT documents coming from IBM System 36 machines
using Personal Services/36 and going through our IBM 3081K MVS machine
(which acts as the DISOSS hub) to the VAX VMS system running DDXF are locking
up and not being properly received at the VAX end. FFT documents from the
S36's are primarily PS/36 NOTEs. PS/36 RFT MAIL and PS/36 MESSAGEs are
able to be received correctly. On the VAX end the lockup is characterized
by receiving the profile (something.PRF file), but only creating the document
file (something.DOC) which never gets any records written to it. A trace of
the PU shows the records being sent from the MVS system to the SNA Gateway.
The MVS system does not remove the document from the queue of documents headed
to the VAX and the communications stall until one of the machines aborts the
connection (manually or by timeout). FFT documents from WANG OS DISOSS hosts
come through ok.

We are running:
DEC DDXF version 1.4
PS/36 V1,R5.1, PTF 3811

Is anyone running a similar configuration, and has anyone solved this
problem? Please respond directly to me and I will summarize for the list.
Thanks.
