Would someone using TCP/IP and Telnet with TE-3270 to an IBM host from a UNIX system please reply by mail: 1) What IBM system are you connecting to (370, 3090.. AS/400 S/38..)? 2) What UNIX system (DEC, IBM, SUN..) are you using and where did you get your various TCP/IP pieces? 3) I understand that FTP works OK, but that full screen display is possible only if you are using TE3270 not VT100 as your telent emulation. a) Can you get full screen emulation to run host applications? Assuming the answer is yes: b) Are any special pieces required on the IBM to accomplish this? - MVS Operating System (assumed) - 8232 LAN Channel Station (assumed) - TCP/IP (IBM's base offering assumed) 3) Can you offer any insight into how well these pieces work overall. Are you happy, was it difficult to set-up, do you have problems? a) TCP/IP in general b) FTP c) Telnet via TE3270 d) NFS 4) What is the bigget problem have in this mixed UNIX/IBM environment? 5) What is the best thing that you have been able to get out of this connection? I appreciate anything you can tell me about this. I would like to know what's really going on the "real-world". JEA -- * /- _______ ingr.b23b!allen!jallen@uunet.uu.net * * */ | V | John E.
