I am looking for some information about BITNET and the protocols a BITNET host runs. As I understand it, BITNET is an academic network meant primarily to link IBM mainframes, which implies the use of IBM networking protocols. I'd like to find out what central administration is done, what existing protocols are or may be used between hosts, what protocols the BITNET software may implement itself, what IBM operating systems will run the BITNET software, whether other computers (if any run the BITNET protocols and exist in the network, and what types of gateways to other networks are available. A pointer to a good reference of any type would also be appreciated. I'd prefer responses via e-mail. Thanks very much in advance!
