[comp.protocols.ibm] atis: problem with sockets???

chris@ec.uwa.oz.au (Christoph Uloth) (04/30/91)

I have been fiddling around with CAPS on our system
and haven't been able to install it properly.

We are running NIS and I have a feeling that the info in
the services is not correct.

The error I'm getting when running atis

abInit: [ddp: 28.01, 44] starting
atis: Tue Apr 30 22:55:40 1991 Reply num max for lkup reply is 5 (based on 104)
atis: Tue Apr 30 22:55:40 1991 NIS: NIS socket not available: error -1: Permission denied
atis: Tue Apr 30 22:55:40 1991 ECHO: ECHO socket not available: error -1: Permission denied
atis: Tue Apr 30 22:55:40 1991 Couldn't establish nis or echo socket, nothing to do

is the socket not defined?

my services file for the Cap stuff is as follows...

at-rtmp 201/udp # udp: rtmp
at-nbp 202/udp # udp: nbp
at-echo 204/udp # udp: echo
at-zip 206/udp # udp: zip

can anyone enlighten me or isn't this enough info?

Chris..
