I wholeheartedly agree with Mark Brader's points. On reflection, net.people is far too unspecific. net.sexes, net.sexroles, or (a bit broader) net.hum-rel (human relations) would be fine. These are neutral names, unlikely to bias discussion or raise the hackles of anyone (that should be done by articles, not group names). For the "other" net.people, I suggest the name is also too vague. There is a column in the SIGART Newsletter that performs the same purpose, called "Bindings" (it announces new bindings of people to places/addresses). This is a very suitable name, so I suggest net.bindings for announcements of people changing net addresses and leaving the net. p. rowley, U. Toronto
