The notion of computational granularity specifically, granularity of parallel computation has been defined in very broad terms thus far - Coarse & Fine. The use of such broad characterizations have given arise some misuse and misunderstanding of the respective terms and on the nature of computation that is being referred to. Isn't it time we had much finer characterizations rather than the two broad (and thus coarse) demarcations? Leave it to the jury to decide and let the moderator be the judge. It would be nice to have names like rock, stone, salt, powder to identify each level of granularity. --------------------- Renukanthan Raman ARPA:ram@sun.com Sun Microsystems UUCP:{ucbvax, seismo, hplabs}!sun!ram M/S 5-40, 2500 Garcia Avenue, Mt.
