Once again, ncc will be shutting down all external mail and news feeds. This will take place over the next few days. Needless to say, this is going to create some havoc with mail in the Edmonton area. First off, everyone should mark ncc as a dead link in their pathalias database. The easiest way to do this is to add the line dead {ncc} to your local pathalias info file, then rerun pathalias to build a new paths database. I will be contacting the system administrators of all the sites who currently connect to ncc to discuss alternate arrangements for feeds. I hope to be able to move all the current mail feeds to aunro (Athabasca U's new Edmonton gateway machine). Since aunro will only have one modem it won't be able to pick up all of ncc's existing news feeds, however I have some alternate sites that should be able to pick these feeds up. If anyone wants to volunteer to take on a news feed, now is the time to step forward. I am also moving the mailing list exploder from ncc to atha. You should not see an interruption in service during the move. If you have any questions about this mess, please mail them to me directly. -- Lyndon Nerenberg VE6BBM / Computing Services / Athabasca University {alberta, decwrl, ncc}!atha!lyndon || lyndon@cs.AthabascaU.CA CTIX-USERS has moved to: ctix-users[-request]@cs.AthabascaU.CA
