[comp.binaries.ibm.pc] Help! more Nethack Probs

Help!

I just got Nethack and I can't get it to run. I have the recently
posted patch to the termcap file, but it just doesn't seem to help, nethack
doesn't recognize that the termcap is there. It just keeps coming back with an
error something like "OOPS, unknown terminal type: nansi-color". Does anybody
have a clue as to the problem????

I'm having the same problem... I get "OOPS, Can't find termcap" or some such
error message. I've tried moving the binary around in my directories
(c:\gmaes\nethack and c:\games) , all to no avail. I would REALLY appreciate
some help on this problem (nethack bug is biting big time :-)) Thanks.

If you rename termcap to termcap.cnf it should work OK. This was a slight
mistake on my part which slipped through when I posted it. Actually, if you
put termcap in its default directory (c:\etc\) it will also work. That's the
reason I missed the error of it not finding termcap.cnf in the path.
There was a new README file I posted here that explained this problem,
but some people must have missed it.
If I ever post a later version, it will be termcap and not termcap.cnf.

In case anybody has noticed, NETHACK will not allow for different terminal
types referring to the same terminal description in the TERMCAP file. The
notation:

nansi-mono | DECRainbow :...

doesn't work. Maybe the next version could have this?
