[comp.binaries.ibm.pc] S/370 assembler simulation RE-POST: how to reconstitute

johnl@ima.ISC.COM (John R. Levine) (01/23/88)

If you're having trouble extracting the S/370 assember from uudecode, here's
what the problem is -- the sections were split with "dd" so that each section
ends in the middle of a line.

I put it back together using vi; put all the sections in a big file, edit the
file, find the headers between sections, delete the header lines, then use the
J command to put the split line at the section boundary together. You have to
x out some extra spaces in one or two cases so the line is the same length as
all the other lines nearby.

Prospective posters are encouraged to use "split" rather than "dd" to cut up
their uuencoded postings, or else "dd" first, then uuencode the parts.
