[net.micro] Spooling from PC to Unix??

km@emory.UUCP (Ken Mandelberg) (02/13/86)

I am looking for a cheap way to automate printing files
originating on a secretarial IBM PC, by transfering them
to a Unix machine (via serial port), and spooling them
there.

Of course the secrertary can do it now using a terminal
eumulator (to login), initiating a file transfer, then
typing a Unix command to spool the print. Certainly
kermit, simterm, or many other emulator/file transfer
programs would handle it. But this is much too manual.

What I really want is a file transfer program that will
let me specify a command-reply dialog before and after
the transfer. Probably the dialog needs to allow for
timeouts triggering an alternate flow in the dialog.

Does anyone know of anything in the public domain that
will handle this? If not I guess we can just hack up
one of the existing file transfer programs.
