[net.micro] Multiplan portability

LMTRA@sri-kl.arpa (03/25/86)

In response to Steve Westfall's query and anyone else who is interested:
Multiplan has a symbolic interchange format called "SYLK" that assures
portability **between compatible versions of the software (usually same
release level or upward)**. To use it, you select T(ransfer) O(ptions)
S(ymbolic) before you save. Before reloading on the other machine, again
do T(ransfer) O(ptions) S(ymbolic), then T(ransfer) L(oad). This should
properly load the sheet, but it will be a slow process. To restore efficiency,
save it on this second machine under T(ransfer) O(ptions) N(ormal).

I have used SYLK successfully for machine interchange (between CP/M and MS-DOS)
and for generating spreadsheets from programming languages.

Good luck
