Ok, go ahead and create all those piffling little newsgroups; such as net.music.* and net.religion.jewish; never mind that some of them should be mailing lists; some have no need to exist, and that most of this is stems from the *laziness* of those folks who don't want to take the time to look at a few extra headers. No, I haven't changed my mind...but after receiving 2 flames in 2 days accusing me of being anti-semitic for opposing net.religion.jewish, I've had enough for a while. -- "Go ahead...make my day." Wombat says, when attacking the proposals to split a couple of newsgroups: >... most of this is [sic] stems from the *laziness* of those >folks who don't want to take the time to look at a few extra headers. We are not lazy, we are just concerned about using the resources of our employers for activities that are of questionable business value. Many people read news on company time, others offline, but all are using company money. In your case, you might be a student somewhere and the situation might be different, but we (and other corporations on USENET) must always be on alert to justify how this activity can make the bottom line look healthier. I'm rather surprised that some allegedly computer (?) people make mockery of the efficiency argument. I certainly would hesitate using your products... P.S. How about those 'Orphaned Response' subject headers, as an example of how meaningless headers can get? -- Orlando Sotomayor-Diaz /AT&T Bell Laboratories, Crawfords Corner Road Room HO-3M-325 201-949-1532 Holmdel, New Jersey, 07733 Path: {{{ucbvax,decvax}!}{ihnp4,harpo}!}houxa!9212osd
