I've recently been charged with the task of evaluating competitive OS/2 Relational Database servers. My mission is to come up with some recommendations, based on price/performace, features, and applicability to our system requirements. I'm looking for a few things: (1) Leads to references (articles/books/etc.) on database evaluation, describing both selection criteria and modelling techniques for determining a particular database's performance. (2) Leads to pre-packaged software which may be used for running test patterns. My time is VERY limited, so I doubt I'm going to have sufficient time to write any kind of sophisticated programs for performance analysis. (3) Any advice which you may have (pitfalls, personal anecdotes, etc.) which may be helpful to me in these endeavors. Please E-mail your responses to me, as my limited time will be keeping me off the net for a while. If I get sufficient responses and have the time, I will try to post a followup summary. Thank you very much. -- Robert H. Averack ISC-Bunker Ramo, An Olivetti Company 2 Enterprise Drive, Shelton, CT, 06484 {oliveb, yale, decvax, philabs}!bunker!rha
