[comp.software-eng] Software Metrics

warren@psu-cs.UUCP (Warren Harrison) (09/04/88)

I will be giving a workshop on software metrics in the near future, and
would like to learn of any commercial software metrics packages that are
available so I can describe them in my lecture. I'd appreciate the name
and address of the company that sells them as well as your experiences
if you have had a chance to use one.

Thanks. Warren Harrison

This is my first posting in this news group. I would like to know if
there exists any public domain software tool (better on unix) for
measuring metrics of programs (McCabe's complexity, Halstead's
operator/operand counts, vocabulary and times). All programming
languages are welcomed. Also, what is the state of the art in
software metrics? Some references to articles in the journals would
be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

I am looking for software metrics for c code. Does anyone have
tools, or a full suite, for analyzing code style, content or
methods? Experience with any sort of automated code review might
be helpful.

Thank you very much.

One topic of our studies is a quantitative analysis of
software quality. Our goal is to get control over all
phases of the software life-cycle by using software metrics.
At the moment we have restricted our research to the
maintenance phase, but in future we will look at the other
phases, too.

In this context we have measured programs, which were
developed for Daimler Benz AG. We are interested
in a comparison between our data and results and the ones
you got from similiar studies. We are especially
interested in classical metrics like Halstead or McCabe,
applied to programs for IBM mainframes written in COBOL.

We would be pleased if you would contact us to exchange
experiences. Thanks in advance.
