Dear readers, We at FEL-TNO ar using NIAM. For those who do as well the following CASE tool could be an advantage. RIDL * (Ridl Star) is a CASE-tool that supports the Nijssen's Information Analysis Method (NIAM), a very powerful data, information and knowledge modelling method, and provides back-ends for the most popular DBMS's, i.e. Oracle, Sybase, DB2 and Ingres. The product has been developed by the Belgian company IntelliBase. It offers a good user interface (OSF-Motif) to produce graphical schemes. From these graphical schemes a process called grouping (or 'mapper') will produce table definitions in the fifth normal form.
