[comp.lang.postscript] Error in recent "Off the Shelf" column, and correction

rdm@cfcl.UUCP (Rich Morin) (06/16/88)

It is my understanding that there has recently been discussion of the
"report card" in the June '88 Off the Shelf (Unix Review). In an effort
to clear up the confusion, I am posting a prepared statement by Unix Review
(see below). I also extend my personal apology to any companies who were
upset by the errors contained therein. As I am not a subscriber to either
of these groups, any responses which I am intended to see should be sent by
Email {hoptoad,lll-lcc,pacbell}!cfcl!rdm}.

The statement follows:

Regarding the review of troff packages in the latest issue of UNIX REVIEW
(Vol. 6 No. 6):

The production staff of the magazine extends its apologies to Elan Computer
Group Inc., Softquad Inc., and author Rich Morin for introducing error into
the report card accompanying the Off the Shelf article (page 89):

Here's a corrected Report Card:

                  	  X  SQ P  E
                	==============
	Installation      C  C  C  C
	Documentation     C  B+ C  A-
	User Interface    C  B+ B+ C
	Performance       C  C  C  C
	Feature Set       B  B- B  B
	Error Handling    C  B  B  C
	Support           C  C  C  C
	==============================
	Final Grade       C  B- C+ B-

where X, SQ, P, and E refer to Xroff, Softquad, Profficient, and Eroff
respectively.

Again, apologies to the companies concerned.
And thanks to those on the net who picked up our error.
