Are there conventions (or standards) for forming troff names for letters with diacritical marks? This would apply to ditroff, really. Example: If I were to add an "n tilde" character, I would guess that the name would be "n~" so that I would enter it as \(n~ (as "jalape\(n~o"). How do I go about forming letters with umlaut, accents grave and acute, circumflex, cedilla, hacek, etc.? I haven't seen anything associated with ditroff itself, but I assume that others have faced the problem. Please respond by email (since I imagine this has come up before). If you need the answer also, send me a note and I'll tell you what I find. [Incidentally, note that it's not sufficient to build these characters with overstriking. If, for example, "\o'a\(aa'" gave a reasonable accented "a", the accent would certainly be too low for "\o'A\(aa' to look right.] -- Dick Dunn UUCP: {ncar, nbires}!ico!rcd (303)449-2870 ...Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile.
