Has any PostScript printer dropped below the magic $3000 barrier yet (I know of none), and if not, any bets as to when one will? -- Craig Werner (future MD/PhD, 4 years down, 3 to go) werner@aecom.YU.EDU -- Albert Einstein College of Medicine (1935-14E Eastchester Rd., Bronx NY 10461, 212-931-2517) "The world is just a straight man for you sometimes"

Under near ideal conditions, one of those NEC LCD buggers can be had for a tad under $3K. -- How can you believe anything labeled: <8086@cup.portal.com> ? richard@gryphon.CTS.COM {backbone}!gryphon!richard

I believe the Atari laser printer with UltraScript is well under $3000, but you need an Atari computer to use it. Of course, Atari will sell you a computer, hard disk, software and laser printer for somewhere around $3000, so maybe they still qualify. - Geof-- UUCP: {decwrl, sun}!imagen!geof ARPA: imagen!geof@decwrl.dec.com

<Has any PostScript printer dropped below the magic $3000 barrier yet...> A recent computer magazine (Byte? Computer Design?) had an article on Postscript printers. The comparison tables listed several for $2995, and I think there was one for $2495. Anybody else see this? See Byte, Sept 88. The $2495 is for the JetScript boards. You also need a LaserJet. -- Bruce G. Barnett <barnett@ge-crd.ARPA> <barnett@steinmetz.UUCP> uunet!steinmetz!barnett
