[comp.lang.postscript] PostScript pricing...

Has any PostScript printer dropped below the magic $3000 barrier
yet (I know of none), and if not, any bets as to when one will?

Under near ideal conditions, one of those NEC LCD buggers can be had for
a tad under $3K.

I believe the Atari laser printer with UltraScript is well under $3000,
but you need an Atari computer to use it. Of course, Atari will sell
you a computer, hard disk, software and laser printer for somewhere
around $3000, so maybe they still qualify.

A recent computer magazine (Byte? Computer Design?) had an article on
Postscript printers. The comparison tables listed several for $2995, and I
think there was one for $2495. Anybody else see this? (Anyone remember where?

| I think there was one for $2495.

See Byte, Sept 88.
The $2495 is for the JetScript boards. You also need a LaserJet.
