I am unfamiliar with the details of postscript, and I have a simple question for the postscript experts out there. How does display postscript handle digitalized images? Does the system give a bitmap to the postscript "engine" to display or does the system use another format? In particular, what are the typical disk storage requirements of arbitrary digitized images? Furthermore, what types (if any) of compaction mechanisms are used? I bring this question to light in view of the use of postscript on the NeXT machine. How much disk storage space is needed to store NeXT graphic images? garl@mcs.nlm.nih.gov
