[comp.lang.postscript] PostScript->PBM

yuval@taux02.UUCP (Gideon Yuval) (11/10/88)

Has anyone hacked Crispin Goswell's PostScript (or: GNU GhostScript), to
make it generate PBM files (cf. Jef Poskanzer's PBM package, recently
posted on comp.sources.misc)?

Not as far as I know. However, I convert PostScript to PBM all the time.
The way I do it is to run NeWS, display the PostScript with psview, do a
screen dump, convert that to PBM, and then cut/crop it down to size.

If you have any way of displaying PostScript on a screen, you can do
something similar. If all you have is a Laserwriter... well, it's possible
in theory to upload the rendered bitmap from the Laserwriter...
