(re: stuff about renderbands) The Macintosh program FontSizer uses this technique to get real bitmaps of Postscript fonts, at any point size. These let you have readable fonts at large sizes (Adobe provides bitmaps up to 24 pt, and the Mac scales them poorly to larger sizes). The program is apparently very slow (probably prints 256 pages, and downloads the bitmaps for each page, for each typeface) but works. Rob Elliott embossed!rob@jolnet.uucp rce242@uxf.cso.uiuc.edu
