[comp.lang.postscript] Help needed on Error handler for PostScript

cplai@daisy.UUCP (Chung-Pang Lai) (12/09/88)

Our QMS printer on unix fails to print certain pages from time to time.

I send the ehandler.ps program v2.1 from Adobe (I believe a lot of people
on the net have this program too) to the printer. It reports what type of
error and dump the page that caused the error.

The problem of this error handler is that it prints out an error page
reporting a timeout error after each job.

Questions:
1. Is this timeout error normal? Seems like "lpr" does not send a EOF
with each job, and the printer won't spit out the last page until
a timeout occur. Is this true? The printcap entry for our printer
specifies no filtering, i.e. send the file "raw" to the device. Is
this the right thing to do?

2. This ehandler.ps stays until the next power cycle. It bothers me
because it prints out a timeout error after every job. Is there
another program that can cancel this error handling mode?

Thank you in advance.
