I was thinking of buying a QMS-PS 810 laser printer the other day. Its spec.'s looks good, version 47.0 of PostScript, the new Canon engine (the same as in the Apple LW II's), it's quiet, etc etc. But then I read a few messages in comp.sys.sun about this printer, which scared me off. It is said to give spurious error messages and to flush the job if the input tray goes empty and isn't filled again within 60 seconds. Is there anyone who has such a printer who can verify whether they are true or not? -- Robert Claeson, ERBE DATA AB, P.O. We got similar problems with our QMS PS 800II but we have not isolated
if it is caused by wrong unix set up. Their manual is written for PC
and Mac only. Unix users have to figure out by themselves. QMS engineers
are on this net either.
I got a phone call from one of their engineers after I asked the net for
help. Apparantly, they got my message thru words of mouth. I am trying
to identify the source of the problem before I call them up.

The earlier message was forwarded to QMS headquarters from IMAGEN. Netmail use is on the increase at QMS Mobile, but most engineers aren't net savvy yet. I'm glad that they got back to you and hope your problem is fixed soon. - Geof Cooper IMAGEN
