[comp.lang.postscript] Printing legal area on NEC LC890 running PS 47

syd@dsinc.UUCP (Syd Weinstein) (03/20/89)

I am trying to print a legal page on the NEC LC890 postscript
printer. I set the 'legal' operator and that shifted my coordinate
system properly. I then tried to print on the page, but the imageable
area was not changed. It printed on the top 11 inches (well less
printer margins) of the paper and left the bottom blank. Any
suggestions from LC890 people??

You probably need to tell your software that the page size is different. I
have successfully added a legal-size option to Adobe TranScript's enscript
and psroff commands. I'll be glad to email the specifics if this sounds
relevant.

:To print legal size paper on the LC-890, you have to set the paper length from
:the menu selection via the front panel switches. The printer has no way to
:automatically detect paper size ... you have to tell it.

In other words, there is no 'paperlength' operator and legal does
not set the paper length like the manual says. If you select it
via the setup/test/... menu it works just fine.
