[comp.lang.postscript] eexec legal question

cnwietho@immd4.informatik.uni-erlangen.de (Carsten Wiethoff) (03/29/89)

Some time ago I had asked some questions about the encoding used in the eexec
operator, which is undocumented in Adobe official documentation.
The responses seemed to indicate that there is some interest but little knowledge
in the world (outside Adobe).

Now my questions are:
_IF_ I (or somebody else) had a short C Program that could convert the crypted
eexec format into plain postscript, would it be legal to post it?
Would it be legal to use it (e.g. on fonts bought from Adobe)?
Would it be useful?
Would it be wise to tell somebody that you have such a thing?

I am especially interested in statements by Adobe how serious this would be taken
and if it is considered to break any copyright of Adobe or somebody else.

In my opinion writing and posting such a program does not violate somebody's
copyright, but using the output may.

Please post only statements of general interest,
email flames, expressions of interest, money offers :-) and others directly to me.
