I'm connecting a Mac SE/30 to a LaserWriter IINT. I'm using a standard mini-8 to RS-232 cable (the same cable that works fine with my modem). I've set the switches correctly (PostScript, 9600 baud icons show up on the startup page) and I set VersaTerm to 9600 baud, Xon/Xoff, 7 bit, no parity. I type 'executive', but I get no response. I also tried to use the Diablo Emulation mode with TMON. Has anyone tried this? I set TMON to Xon/Xoff and again no response. My first question is do I need a null modem? Is there anything else that I may be overlooking? A semi-unrelated question - is it necessary to disconnect the AppleTalk cable when using the RS-232 port, as the manual says? It would be a pain to do this every time I switch modes. Is there any possibility of damaging the printer? I'd sure appreciate any help or suggestions.
