We have a several DEC ln03's and ln03r's and a DEC lps40 connected to a cluster of VAX computers running VMS and DEC's software for queuing/ansi-translation, etc., on the postscript printers. I'm trying to use the laser printers to print on a pre-printed form. The form is set up for 6 lines per inch, but the printers won't print at 6 lpi (I've tried the ansi escape sequences). According to a ruler the printers print between 63 and 64 lines in a 10 inch space. Character spacing is off as well. I suspect that the reason for the smaller line and character spacing is that the printers don't print near any of the edges of the paper. In order to get 66 lines per PAGE and 85 characters per LINE spacing must be a hair smaller than normal. First: Is this analysis correct? Is there another reason? Second: I could write postscript code for the other PS printers to get true 6/8 lpi and 10/12 lpi, but has anyone already done this? thanks, --michael ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Michael McGuffey, Senior Software Applications Analyst Phone: 304/696-3212 University Computer Center FAX: 304/696-3601 Marshall University BITNET: mcguffey@muvms1 Huntington, WV 25755-5320 Internet: mcguffey%muvms3@wvnvms.wvnet.edu
