There is a program called Freedom of Press and at least one other
that takes Postscript as input and outputs to 9 pin, 24 pin and
laser printers.

The raster image processing is done on your computer.

The problem is the speed. If you can tolerate several minutes to
several hours per page, you can save lots of money.

In the mean time, there are at least 2 add-in boards that provide
postscript at a reasonable cost -- they were reviewed in PC Magazine
last month and include JetScript from QMS and PC Publisher Kit from
Imagen. My total cost for HPLJII and Imagen was $3700.

I believe in absolute freedom of the press.
I believe that freedom of the press is the only protection we have
from the abuses of power of the church,
from the abuses of power of the state,
from the abuses of power of the corporate body, and
from the abuses of power of the press itself.
Those persons who advocate censorship offend my religion.
