Hello, I'm still hunting for the best way to get color hardcopy. Here in the Elec Eng department of the Univ of Rochester, we generate IC and printed circuit layouts using CAD tools and want to get hardcopy output. We have some plotters, and we've seen various color thermals and ink jets from Seiko and Tektronix and Howtek. But I still want a color "Postscript" solution. QMS has the Colorscript 100 but its very expensive.. I'd like to spend less than $10,000. Lately I've been seeing various hardcopy companies talking about software from CAI. Apparently this company has a "Postscript" interpreter (note the lower case "s" in "script"), and filters to generate the native graphics language for various devices. Here are my questions: * Who is CAI? Where are they located? Do any of you have a phone number at which I can reach these folks? * Have any of you used their "Postscript" interpreter? Does it claim to conform to any particular set of color extensions or standards? * On what computers will their software run? The ads make it sound like IBM PCs and compatibles or Mac IIs, but ideally I'd like the software for a SUN or a VAX, or even a NeXT I guess. I guess if someone could answer my first question, I could call CAI and get the answers to the rest, but I'd very much like to hear from anyone else that knows anything about CAI.
