We have a laserwriter plus connected to a network of Suns via Transcript software. From time to time the pagecount value goes up or down in leaps and we have lost the printer's name (set with setprintername). To the best of my knowledge, these parameters have not been deliberately modified and appear to be randomly changed by a bug in the machine. Recently, the machine hung and after recycling the power the test page showed a baud rate of 555820416 for the 25-pin connector and 9633 for the 9-pin connector. By moving the current switch setting to 1200 I was able to talk to the machine at 1200 and set the required baud rates. After this episode, I dread the day when the password value is randomly modified. What does one do if the password value is maliciously or randomly changed? -- UUCP: ...!uunet!munnari!trlamct.oz!rick Tel: 61 3 541 6249 ARPA: rick%trlamct.oz@uunet.uu.net Fax: 61 3 541 8863 Rick Coxhill.
