philm@astroatc.UUCP (Phil Mason) (05/02/89)

I am interested in knowing whether or not there is a Laser Printer that
will generate 8.5 x 11 and 11 x 17 inch output.

Any leads or information would be appreciated.

We have an Imagen 6320 that uses both 8.5 x 11 and 11 x 17.

BTW - It aint cheap, but it works well.

Both Data Products and Varityper produce such animals.
Data Products is in the LA area (Canoga Park I believe, area code 818).
Varityper is back east, maybe Boston.

There is a wide body vt600w (Varityper VT600). I'm not at work,
and thus I don't know the dimensions exactly. It's going to be
expensive!

The Dataproducts 2665 does a very good job on both 8-1/2" x 11"
and 11" x 17" paper -- for about $20k (not cheap).

A printer that I recently inquired about, does 11x17 postscript for approx.
$10,000. It is made by a company called BGL. They are located in Camarillo,
California. The phone # is 805-987-7346. They said it was based on the
Data Products print engine, and weighs about 150 lbs.

Disclaimer: This is presented due to the amount of discussion on the net.
I have no first hand knowlegde of this device -> caveat emptor.

The Imagen 7320 will accomodate an 11x17 drawer, and can you can get
it with an "UltraScript (TM)" option. It is not cheap, but it also
does things like duplexing, which might be particularly useful with
11x17 paper to produce bindable books.
