I am trying to produce a fountain of grays. When I print the fountain on
a 300 dpi LaserWriter, I got 26 steps of grays (due to the 5x5 half tone
cell.) At the default setting (150 line screen) on a 2540 dpi Linotronic,
how many gray levels do I get?
Can someone explain how the maximum number of gray levels is related to
the various factors listed below?:
screen number
dpi
angle of the halftone screen grids.
If I like to get a smooth continuous spectrum of grays on a 2540 dpi
Linotronic, (I like to minimize the stepping effects) what kind of screen
should I choose to get the best result? And what is the PS code required
to do such change?
If this has been discussed before, can someone forward the article to me?
