I'm looking for a low-end PostScript printer. I know about the NEC LC-890, and that's one candidate. I've seen the Apple LaserWriter II-NT and I prefer the size/shape of that printer. I like the output quality. However, of late I'm somewhat underwhelmed with the "look and feel" of Apple's apparent corporate attitude--both their current major lawsuits and the fact that they're pulling away from Adobe with the intent to try to steer [some dialect of] PostScript their own direction. So...to the question: What PostScript printers besides the Apples are available based on the same print engine as the LaserWriter II? This is called the Canon SX, unless I'm mistaken. It appears to be the same engine as the HP LaserJet II. I'm interested in a real PostScript printer from the start, not a LaserJet II plus a bunch of stuff I have to add on to make it real. I want one with the common set of 35 fonts (not the older set of 13). A parallel (Centron- ics) interface would be a definite plus. I'd like to know current "real" (not list) prices too, if you know them. Please e-mail; I'll collect and summarize if I get a non-empty list. adthanksvance -- Dick Dunn rcd@ico.isc.com uucp: {ncar, nbires}!ico!rcd (303)449-2870 ...Simpler is better.
