I was wondering if anyone could tell me what takes up most of a laser printer's time when it is laying out a page described by PostScript. I know that the fonts are built with splines so I was wondering if most of the time is spent making matrix calculations. I also know that matrices are used for scaling, rotation, and transformations. I thought that perhaps some sort of matrix-processor could be made to speed up laser printing. Just an idea... David T. Croley croley@sleepy.cc.utexas.edu
