I need recommendations on a good power converter for a professor who will be on a research assignment in England. She will be using a PC convertible. It could be that she will only use the computer on its battery power. The charger would then be the only device plugged in directly to the converter. I would hope though that the converter would allow dependable operation of the charger or direct attachment of the computer. I have heard bad stories about plugging in cheap converters into electronic equipment. It seems peak to peak averaging can be a disaster for a computer.
